Banana Cake Recipe

Moist banana cake.

Home baked banana cake

This recipe yields a cake of about 8 servings.


  • Cake flour, 150 g (1 cup)
  • Cinnamon (ground), 1/4 tsp
  • Baking powder, 5 g (1 tsp)
  • Salt, 1/8 tsp
  • Cane sugar, 75 g (1/3 cup)
  • Egg (room temperature), 1 medium
  • Unsalted butter, 75 g (5 1/4 Tbsp)
  • Vanilla extract, 1/4 tsp
  • Banana (very ripe), 1 medium


  1. Melt the butter over a low heat and set aside to cool
  2. Mash the banana until smooth
  3. In a bowl, sift together flour, cinammon, baking powder, and salt
  4. In another bowl, beat the egg with the sugar and vanilla extract until thick and creamy
  5. Add the melted butter and mashed banana to the egg mixture and beat well
  6. With a spatula, carefully fold the flour mixture into the egg and banana mixture until just combined
  7. Pour the batter into a greased 20 cm cake tin
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 C for about 30 minutes
  9. Cover with aluminum foil in case the top of the cake gets too dark
  10. A skewer inserted into the center of the cake should come out clean
  11. Carefully remove the cake from the cake tin and place on a wire rack to cool

How to serve

Serve at room temperature.
