American Pancake Recipe
Fluffy american pancakes.
Homemade american pancakes
This recipe yields about 8 pancakes.
Ingredients
- Cake flour, 170 g (1 1/4 cups)
- Baking powder, 8 g (1/2 Tbsp)
- Salt, 1/4 tsp
- Granulated sugar, 30 g (2 1/2 Tbsp)
- Egg (room temperature), 1 medium
- Milk (whole), 250 ml (1 cup)
- Unsalted butter, 30 g (2 Tbsp)
Directions
Batter:
- Melt the butter over a low heat and set aside to cool
- In a bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and salt
- Add the sugar and mix well
- In another bowl, beat together egg, milk, and melted butter
- Add the egg mixture to the flour mixture and mix until just combined (the batter should be a little lumpy)
Baking:
- Heat a non-stick frying pan until hot but not searing
- Lightly butter the frying pan (the butter should foam but not darken)
- With a ladle, pour about 50 ml of batter per pancake (leave some space between each pancake)
- Cook the pancakes for 2-3 minutes until bubbles form on the surface
- Flip over the pancakes and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown
How to serve
Serve hot with butter, sugar, jam, or maple syrup.
