Rice Pudding Recipe
Creamy rice pudding.
Homemade rice pudding
This recipe yields 4 servings of rice pudding.
Ingredients
- Rice (short grain, white), 100 g (1/2 cup)
- Salt, 1/4 tsp
- Granulated sugar, 30 g (2 1/2 Tbsp)
- Milk (whole), 800 ml (3 1/3 cups)
Directions
- Rinse the rice thoroughly to remove the powdery starch
- Cook the rice for 3 minutes in about 500 ml (2 cups) of boiling water
- Rinse the rice under cold water and drain
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, heat the milk over a medium heat with the sugar and salt
- When the milk is almost boiling add the rice
- Simmer over a medium heat for about 15 minutes, stirring frequently, until the rice pudding is creamy but not too thick
- Transfer the rice pudding to individual bowls and leave to cool
How to serve
Serve warm or cold topped with muscovado sugar or caramel sauce.
